8 Reasons Church is for You

There are many benefits of attending church, but I want to highlight just a few for those of you who are wondering what the big deal about church is.

    1. You get to interact with God
    2. You get to be around other believers (iron sharpens iron -other believers can help bring out the godliness in you)
    3. You get a message from God and more of His will is revealed to you
    4. You are prepared for future events -good and bad
    5. Jesus did it. Jesus always gathered with other believers even as a kid he was with the elders. He primarily ministered to groups of people.
    6. Paul recommends it. During Paul’s ministry some people became arrogant and stopped associating with other believers.
    7. Promote spiritual growth
    8. Helps deter “backsliding”

If you attend church and Bible study regularly, there is nothing Satan can bring your way that you won’t be already prepared for.

What future events has church prepared me for personally?

    1. The economic downfall in 2008 (I knew about it years before via my pastor and him being sensitive to God’s Spirit).
    2. Healthy Sex Life
    3. Happy, Fun Marriage
    4. Depression
    5. Job Loss
    6. On several occasions my financial blessings were located at church (meaning people within the church met my need financially)

Going to church and paying attention to the message and God’s Spirit (the Holy Spirit) while in service will not only help you be prepared for future crisis, but avoid future crisis and do things the right way the first time.

Speaking in Tongues – Real or Fake?

Okay, so the first time I heard people speaking in tongues in was in a church service. It was my first time visiting this non-denominational church. (I grew up going to a church that spoke against the idea of speaking in tongues -but I always kept an open mind about it since I didn’t know what it was). I 100% believed it was fake at the time it was occuring. It sounded like some African-type language. I reasoned that maybe the pastor met with a group of members before service and told them to speak in a freaky language during church service to convince us of God’s power. However, now I am on the other side of that experience, as I now speak in tongues as a result of being baptized in the Holy Spirit.

Before being baptized with the Holy Spirit I tried to duplicate what those “tongue talkers” were doing, but it was impossible. I couldn’t do it! I remember trying to speak jibbersih really fast. Couldn’t do it. After being baptized with the Holy Spirit, this language just flowed out of me.

From my personal experience, I can say that this is a genuine experience that God has for His children.

What’s your experience of Speaking in Tongues?
