What’s Really Causing You to Doubt?

I am posting a comment that I made to an amazing blog article called How Jesus Responded to Doubt:
    http://str.typepad.com/weblog/2013/04/how-jesus-responded-to-doubt.html

    My response is as follows:
This article has really blessed me today. I’ve been saved since 1993 but have recently began to struggle with the truth of salvation, heaven, hell, etc. I want to believe God and his word with all my heart. I want to be as bold and confident as Paul. I don’t know where this doubt came from except to say I was in a backsliding state and began to listen and believe in other "good" ways of living. (That’s why its important to remain in a good Bible-based church and don’t deceive yourself into thinking that you don’t need to attend a church or to regularly be around other believers).

It is interesting that Jesus tells John the Baptist "blessed are those who aren’t offended…" How many Christians do we know quit church or leave the faith altogether, not because they found overwhelming evidence that it’s a false religion, but because they got offended. Offence can lead to doubting Christ and God’s method of salvation. When one becomes offended, he usually starts looking for other options like John the Baptist: "Are you the one or do we look for another." John himself.baptised Jesus and heard God say "This is my beloved son in whom I’m well pleased." How could he doubt the Messiah when he baptized him and felt unworthy of doing so? If the one who baptized the Messiah was tempted to doubt, how much more can we be tempted since we never actually seen him! Let’s take care to not be offended at Jesus and Christianity due to what we’re experiencing in our lives or some other "Gospel" we’ve read. And let’s be diligent in praying that we remain steadfast in our faith and are not tempted by the evil one.

Remember, Satan wants to distort God’s character so that you think God is evil and bad. He wants you to doubt that the Messiah is the [only] way to God.

So, what did I do to resolve my issues of doubt? Made commitment to believe Gods word, made a quality decision to attend church regularly, joined my church Bible study, took part in communion (and surprisingly had a spiritual experience where the Lord spoke to me and said He shed his blood for me. This personalized Jesus’ finished work and helped me to believe even more that not only did he die, but he died specifically for me), reviewed historical data that had non Christian historians say that Jesus was Baptized by John the Baptist and He was executed by Pontius Prefect Pilatus.

So, how did you resolve your doubt of the Messiah or what’s your current reason for doubting?
